Color-coded for quick reference, the blue-dotted side of the 8-by-3/8-by-2-5/8 stone features a coarse, 325-grit (45 micron) surface, while the red-dotted side features a finer 600 grit (25 micron). The coarse side restores dull or damaged edges, while the fine side, used regularly, keeps an edge razor-sharp. DMT makes a stand for the whetstone (sold separately) and will replace free of charge any product found to be defective. --Ann Bieri This 8" double-sided 600/325 fine/coarse grit stone will sharpen, hone and lap, all types of woodworking tools including knives, chisels, plane blades, gouges, and carbide router bits.
